Since then, Anna has recorded and toured with indie-rock band Annavox and numerous other projects in the folk/rock/pop/jazz/experimental melting pot that is the Portland music scene. In 2005, she released a solo album titled Wake, combining rich layers of cello with often politically charged lyrics sung in her own clear, simple vocal style.

Anna is a core member of the Portland Cello Project, and part of the duo Walking Home. She performs her original songs with both of these groups and continues to sit in with various stellar bands and artists on their recordings and performances. Her playing has been recently featured on the Dirty Projectors’ album Bitte Orca and with the Portland Cello Project she has collaborated with the likes of the Dandy Warhols, Mirah, Horse Feathers, Laura Gibson, and Thao with the Get Down Stay Down, among many others.

Anna also teaches private cello lessons at Starfish Studios in SE Portland. She is currently accepting new students.

Anna Fritz is a cellist, singer, and songwriter based in Portland, Oregon. She was born, raised, and trained as a classical cellist in the Midwest, traveled the States having adventures, and then settled in her true home (the Pacific Northwest) in 2000.
